Dr. Karen

is a trauma-informed Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She works with children, teenagers, families, and women. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of children, teens, and adults who have a history of trauma. Dr. Karen is an adoption expert and works regularly with children and adolescents from foster care, international adoption, domestic adoption. She also works with birth mothers.  Dr. Karen received a Bachelor’s Degree from Baylor University, a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from Spalding University.

Dr. Karen is an adoptive mother and an orphan care advocate. She speaks regularly at national adoption conferences and provides clinical consultation and training in orphan care settings domestically and internationally. Dr. Karen also provides pre and post adoption training and consultation for several national adoption agencies.

Dr. Karen is a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)® practitioner, and is professionally trained in Theraplay®, and EMDR.  She has a heart for working with children who come from “hard places.” She has a wide range of experience in areas of child development, attachment, parent training, relationship-based traumas,  pre and post adoption services, international orphan care community consultation, and missionary member care.

Dr. Karen is a Licensed Psychologist, adoption & foster care specialist, international consultant for orphaned & vulnerable children, runner, cyclist, reader, and avid Lisa Frank fan.
